DHI Technıque
  • The Direct Implantation Technique (DHI) is a modern and improved version of Fue. It should not be considered a completely new technique. It was developed to avoid the lack of control in the FUE technique, such as channeling and adjusting the depth, direction and angle of placing the hair follicles.
  • In DHI, hair follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area (usually from the back of the scalp) and implanted directly into the recipient area using a special tool called the Choi implanter pen, more accurately and densely than other techniques. DHI eliminates.
  • As we said, DHI eliminates the need for pre-made incisions or channels in the recipient area. Instead, hair follicles are implanted directly into the target area using an implanter pen called Choi Pen, which allows precise control over the depth, direction and angle of placement.
  • The DHI technique is now widely used and recommended in Turkey due to its benefits and practicality.

Surgical Steps of DHI Technique:

1- Consultation With Doctor: About the surgery process, the expectations, and the results that can be achieved.

2-Designing The Hairline: The hairline is designed in the most natural way with the help of a special laser tool by doctor.

3-Administering Local Anesthesia: Before local anesthesia, the scalp is painlessly numbed with small punches that blow air, reducing the pain of local anesthesia by up to 80%. After then, then the donor area and the recipient area are numbed with local anesthesia needles.

4-Extraction Of Hair Follicles:  Hair follicles are extracted from the donor area by using a special tool called Micromotor.

5-Direct Implantation: With the help of Choi pens, hair follicles are transplanted one by one directly to the recipient area. After implantation, PRP Treatment is applied to the newly implanted area and patient is discharged from the clinic.

Let's look at the differences or benefits of the DHI technique from other techniques;

1-Implantation Technique: The most important difference lies in the implantation technique. In DHI, hair follicles are implanted directly into the recipient area using a special tool called the Choi implanter pen. This pen provides precise control over the depth, direction and angle of hair follicle placement, resulting in a more natural-looking result.

2-No Pre-made Incisions or Channels: Unlike some other methods, DHI eliminates the need for pre-made incisions or channels in the recipient area. The implanter pen itself makes small holes and implants the hair follicles directly, reducing trauma to the scalp and speeding up the healing process.

3-Minimally Invasive: DHI is considered a minimally invasive procedure as it reduces the need for extensive incisions and stitches. This can contribute to a faster recovery time and potentially less post-operative discomfort.

4-Natural-looking Hairline: The precise control offered by the Choi implanter pen allows for a natural-looking hairline with optimal density and distribution of hair follicles.

5-High Graft Survival Rates: DHI is known for its effectiveness in achieving high graft survival rates. Direct implantation of follicles helps to minimize the time they spend outside the body, increasing the possibility of successful transplantation.

6-Suitability for Various Hair Loss Stages: DHI can be suitable for individuals at different stages of hair loss and offers a versatile solution for those looking to address various degrees of baldness.

However, the DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) technique has some disadvantages. Here are some of them:

1-Unmatched Technique: The Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) technique is slightly more complex than basic hair transplantation methods and requires doctors with specialized training and skills and a specialized team.

2-Cost: The DHI technique can often be more expensive than other hair transplant techniques. This can be a disadvantage for some patients.

3-Long Lasting Procedure: The DHI technique may take longer than other hair transplantation techniques. Since each hair follicle needs to be transplanted individually, the procedure time may be longer. This requires more time from both the surgical team and the patient.

4-Requires High Experience: The DHI technique should be performed by experienced and specialized surgeons. It is important that the hair is transplanted at the right angle and at the right depth. When done in inexperienced hands, the results can be undesirable.

5-Increase in Donor Area Utilization: The DHI technique may require more donor area to extract individual hair follicles. This can be a disadvantage for some patients where donor area is limited.

  • In general, the DHI method is known for its precision, natural-looking results and ability to achieve high-density hair transplants. However, it requires specialized skills and equipment.
  • It is important to remember that the choice between DHI and other hair transplant methods depends on individual factors such as the patient's specific hair loss pattern, the condition of the donor area and personal preferences. It is crucial to consult a qualified medical professional to determine the most appropriate approach for each individual case.
  • The result is DHI as we know it today: a minimally invasive, painless and natural procedure with guaranteed natural results and over 92% follicle survival.
